The Chinese Ping Pong Team's Visit to the United States
The Chinese ping pong team's visit to the United States has not received as much attention. The American Table Tennis Association that had been invited to China in 1971 was an amateur organization. This is offset by the involvement of another organization, the National Committee on US-China Relations. It advocated for discussion about US-China policy at a time where containment strategy was continuing and with this ping pong visit, it becomes directly involved in the relationship in the form of facilitating exchanges.
