Emergence, a Concept That's Not Usually Learned in School

Emergence occurs when an entity is observed to have properties its parts do not have on their own, properties or behaviors which emerge only when the parts interact in a wider whole ye yem. This debate then extended as part of this evolutionary tension between reductionism and vitalism, at the time, in the early nineteenth century. In some way, you have something like ritin because you have a property that lets you reduce water into ice.
