No more than three to four miles per week as you build, then add speed once you get to about 25 miles per week. Those are all rules of thumb that may or may not be perfect in your situation. When in doubt err on the conservative side of these rules and consider these rules really just the top end or the top boundary for what you might reasonably be able to do without overdoing it.
