Motivated to Excel an English Class?

i think there's layers to why a student could be motivated in a class. I would often ask them is, likeso, what is it that you want to be doing with your life? And then when we start to have that discussion again, kind of creatively at times, and sometimes it doesn't even require creativity, being able to draw that back to why being successful my class room is going to help them get there created a different type of motivation. Even if they're not interested in factoring a quadratic, they're interested in excelling at the unit or the course because they know that's going to be one small piece of a larger puzzle that they're trying to put
