Is There a Way to Identify a Person's Gender?

Facial recognition technology could be used to identify people by their gender. This would put transgenders at risk of physical assault, humiliation and embarrassment. We need to accept that these kind of automated systems are going to encourage more interactions with the police - which has a whole host of issues associated with it.
