A lot of this comes down to the idea that we almost feel like we are shouting into the void when we try to persuade somebody. This under confidence seems like it can be connected to how persuasive we might think we can be. Ah, one example is something so i talked about the invisibility cloak illusion. There's also a sort of comparable illusion that happens on social media. And this is called the invisible audience. A regular old post gets more eyes on it than we tend to think.
