Chung's Rejection

Chung's father was a well-known tailor who made suits for Hollywood clients like Alfred Hitchcock and Malam Brando. He formed a folk band called Onyx with his friends in school at Wellington College, where he was the lead singer. It was in 1977 that he got his first big break when he entered himself into Redifusion television's same competition for Amateurs. With his rendition of Don McQueen's American Pie and possibly the help of his good looks, Chung lasted till the final round of the Hong Kong late.
