Space Audity: The challenges of space communication
Twenty Thousand Hertz
How to Send a Radio Signal to a Neighbor Star
If two particles are entangled on the quantum level, knowing something about one particle lets you reliably predict the state of the other one. And this connection persists no matter how far away the particles are from each other. This would make it almost impossible to distinguish an actual message from random noise. The only way I can verify whether this is just random quantum noise or this is a message that I'm getting is to send a light signal - which is limited by speed of light. Of course, this also makes it really hard to connect with any alien species that might be trying to say hi.
