Anxiety Is a Threat to Existence
For Tillig, courage is not just the ability to endure but wisdom towards that which concerns us ultimately. He draws on thinkers such as Thomas Aquinas who describes courage as being capable of conquering whatever threatens the attainment of the highest good. In Christianity, this anxiety is reduced by man's participation in the divine being, who had taken fate and death upon himself.
