The president of El Salvador is trying to negotiate with the gangs in order to reduce crime. Instead, he's using emergency powers that have led to mass immurtors and a move towards authoritarianism. Authoritarianism usually follows because people won't tolerate violence on one-on-one basis as they want to live in peace. "This is what happens when you let a country go"
