C.S. Lewis puts in George McDonald as his Virgil as it were in the great divorce, says Jerry Seinfeld. He said he never wrote a book where he didn't quote from McDonald, either an idea or directly. So I think that this becomes a natural for him and that story. And yeah, it sounds almost new age in a way.
