The group made camp at Whitmore Wash, a popular resting spot along the river. "We had been searching for scorpions with black lights the previous couple nights just because it was fun," says Grace and chafer's editor-at-large. They were sleeping under stars pillow talking when one of them felt something crawling on his arm. He tried to flick it off him but inadvertently flicked it directly onto Abby's thigh.
