China's Strategic Calculus - Ukraine
In 2013, China and Ukraine signed a security agreement. This was done in December 2013 at the height of the Maidan Revolution. The deal was if Ukraine would come under attack, a nuclear threat, by a third country, China would guarantee Ukraine's nuclear security. Russia enraged Vladimir Putin to no end because after the collapse of Soviet Union, there were three of them particularly crucial for Russia.
