We tend to follow the money. How'd we get white supremacy? Well, it's a labor story. Patriarchy is about domination and control. What distorts and hobbles our democracy? Follow the money. Oftentimes when people talk about culture, we're thinking art, language, food, spirituality,. Anything but money or economics. But culture is about values, the stuff we hold dear. Western societies have built a culture that cares tremendously about money in exploring the climate crisis. The trouble is, as dirk phillipson points out, this economic model is the hero in American politics.
