The Life and Times of William Bacchus
Bacchus was drafted into World War II, but soon found himself back in a classroom. By 1950, he had already gone back to school and graduated from Columbia University with a master's degree in mathematics. His last act in his medical career was actually designing his own metal plate that was later implanted in his skull. It wouldn't be until after he received his degree, ending the end of his military service, that he came face to face with his first computer.
