If you just learned a new problem and finding it very challenging, i wouldn't say that's the time to start introducing interleaved practice. Don't wait until you're hundred or cent comfortable and happy with your blocked practice. Move on to inter leaved practice sooner than it feels really comfortable. That is the whole point.
