The Curvature of Illness

Some patients in evitably get sick, and then their curve of recovery is is blunted. So instead of having a quick turn around, they kind of languish at the top. Some people have described this as sistent, chronic critical illness. What's the reason for it? You know, lot of factors go indit, patient factors and so on. But it is certainly true that in some cases a patient will kind of get stuck here at a plateau,. either that looks sort of flat, or it does look like recovery, but is very slow.
