The History of Whiskey
Pennsylvania legislators used to drink rye whiskey instead of beer because the beer would go flat during a full day's session. They'd have months of whiskey and they were arguing over whether it was better flavored with hot peppers, cherries or tansy. These things sort of take on a life of their own and people begin to make it and believe in it and it turns into the whole thing.
