The Puzzle of Beautiful Mathematics
In the day, like in Newton's day, people thought this. Why were they right to think it has something to do with beauty? This would have a intuitively makes sense. But if this is just kind of a mere preference, subjective preference we have, then why should we think the universe fits with our preferences? I mean, why should we be so much more confident on this? So this is the puzzle, right? Beautiful mathematics is useful. And why, and its usefulness seems to have something toDo with the fact that it describes the world.
