What Is the Problem With Crete?

There's this whole civilization called Minoan civilization that is one of the early, great dominant expressions of Greek civilization. And apparently back in the day, in a bid to assert Crete and dominance over all the other Greeks, they claimed that Zeus was born there. Paul says even one of their own prophets has said, Cretans are always liars, evil, brutes and lazy gluttons. He then draws on these ancient Greek thinkers words to agree with him and say, you know what, lying is a problem there, but we're going to confront it with the truth of Christ.
