John the Baptist: The New State of Affairs

The reign of God is at hand. What's the reign of God? Wrong question, actually. John the Baptist is pointing his audience toward not a new state of affairs exactly. The one that origin called the autobazilea, the kingdom in person. In Jesus' divinity and humanity have met. And so, John the Baptist says to those who've come into the desert: They've left behind their distractions.
