James Webb - A General Purpose Observatory

James webb is a general purpose observatory. Although the science case is focused around these two big pillars, early galaxies and exo planets. The reason it's so exciting is because there's a chance, just a chance, that we could pick up the signature of life on some of these planets. We know when they go in front of their star. We say the star blink. Weknow when it's going to happen again. That's called transit spectroscope. So now we can say, well, does it have an atmosphere? And if it does, what are the molecules in it?"
