I think there's a losing battle among conservatives in the West, he says. The idea that we are in the middle of a US-style culture war doesn't stand up to scrutiny. I also think that we lack party polarization on issues such as abortion and race. We don't have one thing which makes us think maybe there's a culture war here. And when Brexit went away it was like they were scrabbling around statues. But you know what? It's simply not driving America voters through this way.
