You don't ever want to go on a location scout thinking first, primarily, where's the light coming from? That's death. And when you see a set or a location, does it go through your head? Oh, I could put a lamp here. I could put this kind of lamp over there. Do you then go to the art department? Yes, but I think that the danger is that that takes too much priority over the script and the directors wishes and the scene. So it's always a balance between these different aspects of producing the frame.
