The Importance of Instrumental Causality
God is the ultimate first cause, we are secondary causes. We are secondary causes with freedom, with an intellect, with the ability to act freely. This is what distinguishes us from secondary causes without freedom, that is everything else. It's in this second sense that the Holy Spirit then is acting upon these particular human beings to consign to writing this saving truth. They are able to act with freedom and with creativity to consign a message of salvation.
