Human beings have a tendency and will consume only available resources. If you just think of New Zealand, which has been settled since Christ, I guess, 800 years ago or so, 12 species of gigantic birds, the moi, went extinct as a result of the deprivations of the Indigenous people that now occupy New Zealand. There's an unfolding tragedy.
