Research has shown that growing up in poverty is correlated with many bad outcomes, cognitive development and school performance. But relational work really doesn't speak to causality,. By which i mean we can't say for sure if poverty is simply associated with those differences or whether poverty is really causing those differences. How do you run a randomized trial on that? So of course, you can't randomize people to live in poverty or not live in poverty. But you can randomizePeople to receive different amounts of poverty reduction.
