Sally Kohn: When it comes to our concerns about helping kids be better readers, I think we're overdoing it a bit. She says there's a great deal of repetitiveness and so that if you learn a particular pairing of sound and symbol, it's gonna put you in good stead as you read other texts. "When we use the word skill to refer to reading comprehension, that gets a lot shaky," she says.
