Is There a Reuse of Value in Message Queues?

I feel like all sophisticated rest APIs end up being at some point, a half built, lazily implemented version of a message queue. They have to be available. And why? Just skip that and add the message layer there. Unfortunately, it's built out in the public now that if you put a broker in between, that just means that the application on the receiving end could actually be down for maintenance while I'm still receiving messages in. So cool. To talk about reuse of value, now I can connect because again, rest of the value, that's the point. Right. Rest is great. But you know what? Me, because I'm lazy.
