The study stopped new sand from being brought in by trucks and put up fencing on three sides of the beach. So they also planted seeds of native dune plants. The dune was monitored to see if more sand was trapped there and to see if any plants or animals moved in. There was 15 centimeters of new sand after six months. Around the eighth month mark, the eight month mark, dune beetles moved in.
