When I was a kid, the way that you learned how to ride a bike was to have training wheels added to a normal bike. And once you've got the pedaling and steering down, you can get rid of the training wheels. That's when you focus on the balancing part of riding a bike. But in his case, it turned out to be different because instead of getting him a bike with training wheels, we just happened to get him what is called a balance bike.
