Karina Roberts was arrested on suspicion of the murder of Heather Snively. She confessed to police officers that she had also killed her unborn son John. But according to Oregon state law a human being is defined as a person who has been born and was alive at the time of the criminal act. It was impossible to prove baby John was alive in the moments after he was ripped from the womb.
