How Well or How Poorly Are Healthcare Facilities Allocated?
In 1999, there were the first free elections in Indonesia since 1955. A political parties law opened the way for more political parties to take part in these elections. The regional autonomy law devoted a lot of resources that had previously been centrally allocated from Jakarta out to local governments. This is important for ordinary citizens because it simply means that ordinary citizens needed to travel farther to access healthcare services.
