The Life of Monjono Sinura

Quinty runs a boarding house where she invites people to stay for money. She sets off one day on a train and the carriage in which she travels is the target of a terrorist attack. She dies save for herself and three other people - an American girl who suffers from amnesia, an English general whose family die in the bomb explosion and a young German man whose fjossé is also killed in the explosion. The story is really about how these people respond to this traumatic experience but you only learn at the very end of the book.
