The Myth of Spartacus

Spartacus is a bandit gladiator slave rebel who revolted against the Romans. He's often used to tell the story of what was going on at the time, such as during the French Revolution. The more negative tradition survives to the Romans, but there's enough of that early positive tradition to give rise to the more noble heroic Spartacus in the Enlightenment.
