Virtue ethics is a peculiar excel because it was inspired by the aristotelian theory of virtues, partly by thomas aquinas account of virtues. Elizabeth anscombe used traditional Aristotelian virtue ethics as an alternative to kinds of moral philosophy and moral thinking that she found to be problematic in many ways. And i think in this situation, a aristotle's ethics was used as a model for an alternative style of moral philosophy - without just interpreting aristotle's nicomachian ethics.
