Is It a Scapegoat or a Goat?
A guilty scapegoat makes it easier for the people to have him stand in for the guilt of everybody. Gerard would say that community, worldly community at least, and culture is founded on the back of a concealed victim. So tat that scapeading mechanism actually forms some kind of community not based on collective violence but on something else which grows out of original sin.
