Bovin has a wonderful line in philosophy of revelation where he talks about how to construct a worldview. Underneath all the diversity of fields we get the idea of what's true and normative what's important so undergirds absolutely everything it doesn't flatten out history but it can actually accommodate diverse perspectives that ultimately get at different shades of the truth. The decision of bad kings and bad sins drives history but if you take a look at first and second chronicles for instance it's actually the positive decisions of kings that perhaps drives history and both are true.
