Stephen Rowley's The celebrants is a moving tale about the false invincibility of youth and all the beautiful ways in which friendship helps us celebrate our lives even amid the deepest challenges of living. It's these friends who meet in college and they go through a tragic event together and they start a pact where they decide to have these living funerals for each other. They're allowed to enact the pact at any time in their lives and this takes us through their friendship over the course of the next 30 years, it's really special and charming.
