When we prepare for conversations with people, it can be easy for us to think, why should this person trust me? Why should this person believe me? Our experience is bias as expectations. So i start by asking myself, why shouldn't they? It's not about being fatal or negative for assuming the worst. It's about empathizing to the highest degree possible and thinking to your point about the distributor,.Why shouldn't they use me? Because they're being more profitable with somebody else.
