Introduction
Abu Hamad Al-Rzali is one of the greatest and most complex thinkers of the Islamic world. In his autobiography, he speaks of a crisis brought on by reflection on the nature of knowledge. This was philosophy as illness, and the name of the disease was skepticism. He found peace in spiritual retreat only after deciding to devote himself fully to God.
