The History of the Economic Text Book
Samuelson's economic text book was a landmark work in the profession. He established it first and sometime in the 19 forties, and would revise it many times over the course of the rest of his life. Back then, harvard was the place for economics; he wasn't given tenure or lectureship at Harvard. The professor who helped him along with odd jobs came to m it by accident when pol sameson arrived on the wrong side of the charles river.
