The Neanderthal Cave Engravings
Neanderthals may have created the world's oldest known cave paintings about 65,000 years ago. Scientists used optically stimulated luminescent dating to determine how long it had been since certain sediments like quartz saw sunshine. They believe that the Loire river was much closer to the site back in those days and repeated flooding eventually caused the cave to close upAbout 57,000 years before we made it to France.
