Flightless Cormorants in Galapagos Islands

Cormorants are flightless, but they hang their wings out to dry. This is a vestige of the behaviour which their flying ancestors had. The penguins use their flippers for propulsion and fly under water. Their wings are smaller than if they were optimized for swimming. And that's why puffins have to flap their wings like crazy in order to keep up.
