The Myth of Churchill
I think that this is a very well-organised and manufactured misconception, because countries that have little else to offer sometimes chose heroes. And so Churchill is made into this sacred figure who can't be attacked. It's not that these histories aren't available, they're covered up. I mean at the height of the war in 1942, they were trying to discuss who to replace Churchill with. That is what was going on. So the fact this is not known, you know, it's just not known. We have to be really aware of the institutional dimensions of imperial myth making.
