CHAPTER

The Differences Between Human Language and Mathematics

In mathematics we start with a few very primitive things and have incredibly strict rules about how to build up more complicated things. We all sort of agree on what things mean so like a lot of fields try to define concepts but I think everyone agrees that those definitions will evolve over time and then there'll be arguments about them. Once something has been established it's no longer an issue as long as people accept the definition, right? So in maths once you've got your basic primitives everything else is pretty easy from there.
