The way to bring inflation under control is on the supply side. The cost of the government debt, now that the government debt is in many developed economies, triple or quadruple what it was in the inflationary surge of late 70s and early 80s. I like to joke that the role of government is to find out what the people are up to and put a stop to it. If the goal is to say technological innovation is all well and good, but these guys are too successful, their companies are too powerful, let's put an end to it? That's problematical.
