The End of the World or the End of Capitalism?
The films are not about the end of the world, right? They're actually about what we would now call the great reset. In 2012, it's made very explicit because they actually have a kind of eugenics selection process for who gets to be preserved from this disaster. And at the same time again, you have this massive depopulation where much of the earth is destroyed before your very eyes.
