Greeking Out from National Geographic Kids

CHAPTER

The Mystery of Daedalus

Daedalus was welcomed by Cokulus, the king of Sicily. But King Minos had not forgotten his escape and longed for revenge. He offered a great reward for anyone who could solve a puzzle he had created. Daedalus drilled a tiny hole at the top of the shell and placed a drop of honey at the bottom of the shell. Then he glued a string to an ant and pushed it through the hole. Ants have an exceptionally keen sense of smell. They have four to five times more odor receptors than most other insects.
