In 2016 and 2018, there was a study called effective lower body resistance training on upper body strength adaptation in trained men by Bartolome et al. The group doing the higher volume lower body training along with their bench training had larger increases in bench press one rep max and also a larger increase in arm muscle area. And I feel like this most recent study looking at myostatin and phalostatin possibly ties all of this together.
